Introduction
The proposed Goods and Services Tax Act 2009 (GST) which will be implemented on 1st April 2015 and will replace
the current Sales and Service Tax, is a broad based consumption tax based on value added concept.
This special 2 days intensive Seminar is designed to assist participants to understand the objectives, law, concept
and operations of the current Sales Tax and Service Tax and what is in store for businesses under the
proposed GST in Malaysia. While there are similarities between the current Sales and Service Tax and the
proposed GST, there are signification differences too which will affect all levels and types of businesses. Therefore

TRAINER PROFILE
Mr. Perumal
Perumal Munusamy PMP,AMN,PJK. B.Econs, LL.B, CMILT (UK), Dip.System Analysis
Mr.Perumal is a retired Deputy State Director of Customs, Selangor. Currently, he is a Customs Consultant and Lecturer for CILT programmes and other logistics institutions. He joined Royal Malaysian Customs in 1973 as a superintendant and worked at various divisions of the Department and held various positions. During the tenure of Service, he acquired experiences from the following Divisions:
• Customs Division (Import & Export)
• Internal Tax Division (Sales Tax, Service Tax & Excise Duties)
• Preventive Division (State preventive & Special Squad HQ)
• Customs Computer Division.
Perumal worked at various places such as Subang Airport, Johore Customs, Ipoh Inland Station, Customs HQ and Port Klang Customs. At Port Klang he headed the Import, Free Zone Division and Internal Tax division and then finally retired as Deputy State Director of Customs, Selangor.
He had attended several seminars, courses and workshops pertaining to Customs matters at Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Brussels, Switzerland, England and also at Canada. He was also responsible for the successful implementation of Customs
